Labour Secures Zebra Crossing Near Martin Way

The location of the proposed zebra crossing near South Merton station.

Following a coffee morning attended by the Leader of Merton Council, Councillor Ross Garrod, plans have been drawn up, at the request of residents, to put a zebra crossing on a busy road in Morden.

The idea was put forward during a recent residents’ coffee morning, and Councillor Ross Garrod asked Labour’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Councillor Stephen Alambritis, to look into improving safety on Martin Way, near the junction with Mostyn Road.

Detailed designs for the zebra crossing are currently being drawn up, after which a 21-day statutory consultation will be undertaken in the autumn this year.

This is just the latest example of your Merton Labour Councillors taking action on the priorities of residents, and improving safety in your neighbourhood.
