Merton Labour Campaign For Step Free Access At Colliers Wood Station

Cllr Cooper Marbiah, Cllr Attawar and Cllr Neaverson, and the Cabinet Member for Transport, Cllr Alambritis, campaign for step free access outside Colliers Wood Tube station.

For many public transport users, accessibility makes the difference between going out or staying in.

Step-free access isn’t just about improved accessibility for wheelchair users, but also for those with limited mobility, people with pushchairs or those carrying heavy luggage. Step-free access is vital to ensuring all residents are able to travel safely, comfortably and with dignity.

Colliers Wood Tube Station is a vital transport link helping to take residents from nearby wards in Wandle, Abbey, Colliers Wood and Lavender Fields to and from Merton to central London and beyond. It is also part of the longest stretch of the tube on the Northen Line currently without step-free access.

That’s why your Merton Labour Action Team have initiated a petition to show the strength of support in making our local tube station step-free.

Together, we must act quickly to make our case to Transport for London (TfL) and urge them to approve work at Colliers Wood so the station is accessible and inclusive to all. We know TfL are prioritising the nearby Tooting Broadway station, but with your support, we can get TfL to prioritise this vital station for residents.

SIGN THE PETITION FOR STEP FREE ACCESS AT COLLIERS WOOD STATION

This campaign builds upon Merton Labour’s successful campaigns to deliver more accessible transport across the borough, including at Motspur Park Station, Tooting Station and Raynes Park Station.
